Growing methods for indoor gardens

Happy Leaf LED grow lights work well for all types of indoor growing methods, whether you are seed starting, growing with a classic hydroponics system, growing in dirt, or our personal favorite, passive hydroponics.

What is Passive Hydroponics? In a word, it’s magic! It really is. No soil, no motors, just plants, media, nutrients and lights. That’s it! Very simply, passive hydroponics is probably the easiest way to grow a variety of plants indoors that keeps the whole process as economical and low maintenance as anyone could ever hope for.

Here are a few videos that take you through the process. They are a little dated with the older lights we used to sell, but the process is rock solid.

  • Grown plants in black pots under a lighting system in a controlled environment.

    Coco Coir & Vermiculite

Best for tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and root crops—this method uses a self-watering container with a coco and vermiculite mix for consistent moisture and strong roots. We prefer this growing method for spinach as well.
